January 7 th 2018
I have been reading a lot lately and saw a story that caught my eye.https://wattsupwiththat.com/2018/01/07/cold-snap-brings-snowfall-to-the-sahara-desert-for-the-second-winter-in-a-row/
What surprises me is the fact we have snow cover in the desert. It has to be really cold for snow to stick and accumulate on top of sand. Last I checked sand holds heat better than any surface. Now I’m not trying to say that this article proves we are cooling, but it is a surprising event none the less.
Let’s be clear though, I’m pretty sure nobody even gave any thought to the possibility of snow in the desert during this cool down. This isn’t the first article that covers snow in the desert. Last year there were more snow events in more locations than before so I am curious to see what 2018 will bring.
Bottom line is, it’s pretty cold out in certain regions and we are seeing weather events in locations that normally do not see extreme weather. It is however, the very beginning of The Grand Solar Minimum. Stay tuned….
