At least 18 people have been killed and 94 injured after heavy rain hit the city of Shiraz, southern Iran on Monday, March 25, 2019, causing severe flash flooding.

Greenland’s fastest-flowing and fastest-thinning glacier is growing again

A new NASA research shows that Jakobshavn Glacier, which has been Greenland’s fastest-flowing and fastest-thinning glacier for the last 20 years is now flowing more slowly, thickening, and advancing toward the ocean instead of retreating farther inland. The research is based on data from NASA’s Oceans Melting Greenland (OMG) mission and other observations.

Senate Democratic Sponsors of Green New Deal Heroically Plan to Vote ‘Present’

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) has scheduled a floor vote on the Green New Deal resolution for the week of March 24^th. Democrats were caught off guard when Senator McConnell said in February that he wanted to have a vote on the resolution and have been trying to figure out what to do ever since. It appears that they have now settled on a strategy: they or nearly all of them will vote “present.” This includes the sponsor of Senate Resolution 59, Sen. Ed Markey (D-MA), and its eleven co-sponsors. Six of the co-sponsors are running for president.
